I am running for the Newport-Mesa School Board because I want to improve academic outcomes for all students. Every child should leave elementary school, be able to read fluently, write clearly, and with basic math skills. These fundamentals are key to opening every door that comes later.
I will bring the perspective of a parent, an attorney, a coach, and an educator to the school board. My priorities are less screen time in classrooms, more instructional time on fundamentals, and honest public reporting of how our students are performing. Math and Science programs should be chosen because evidence shows they work.
My wife and I have been married for 29 years, and we’ve lived in Costa Mesa for 27 years. We raised our four children here who all went to public schools. I have been actively involved as an educator, teaching junior high and high school. I coached wrestling and helped lead several teams to the CIF state championships. I have practiced law since 2002 in business, real estate, insurance, and professional athlete representation. I earned my law degree by attending night classes while teaching during the day.
My educational background has prepared me to enhance educational opportunities for our children, bringing the best courses in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math. Every child should be provided with the skills to achieve their chosen dream in college or career.
As an attorney, I will bring skills this board needs. I will examine agreements, purchases, and other spending line by line. The vast majority of your tax dollars need to be spent in the classroom, not on bloated administration. Budgeting efficiently, we can get better results without higher taxes.
I believe the board must listen to parents, students, and our teachers. I will always make myself available to them and always work to improve the academic opportunities and outcomes for all.
